1. St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Abbey Gardens

There is also an award winning market, which takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays offering a large selection of fresh local produce, flowers and even handmade pizza stalls! St Edmunsbury Cathedral is a wonderful building next to the Abbey Gardens. It lights up beautiful at night, opposite The Angel Hotel. The Abbey Gardens attracts thousands of local visitors and tourists each year, with its stunning floral displays as well as ancient monument ruins. It is owned by St Edmunsbury borough council and the grounds often hold many events such as the annual Bury Festival and the Christmas Fayre. 2. Framlingham Castle

Framlingham Castle makes a great day out for families. There is lots to discover at the castle such as the Wall Walk, where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Framlingham and surrounding countryside. If you have young children, they might like to take a different approach down the 6.6 metre slide! There is an onsite food kiosk and shop where you can pick up garden gifts, local jams and many more products.

There are also some fantastic events that take place at Framlingham Castle such as an outdoor cinema, castle tours and other fun activities. It’s perfect for Easter and summer holidays as well as educational school trips.

3. Aldeburgh Beach

Aldeburgh is a lovely town and beach to visit in the summer, with a high street full of shops and restaurants to take a look at. There is also the famous Fish and Chip shop – You can’t visit Aldeburgh without trying their famous fish and chips!

4. Ickworth House

Ickworth House is a beautiful Georgian palace, set in the English landscape. It is a National Trust property, which displays a large silver and art collection situated near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Dunwich Heath and Beach is a peaceful nature reserve along the Suffolk Coast. Dunwich is well known for its tea rooms, shopping and dog walks.

There are many places to go birdwatching where you will see some of nature’s most precious and rare birds.

Close to Dunwich beach is a hotel, pub and restaurant called The Ship. It’s a great place for lunch or dinner after a walk down the beach or heath. It also accommodates dogs, which welcomes a lot of dog walkers that visit too.

It’s the place to visit for a peaceful stroll along the beach, with an ice cream in hand!
