4. Tinside Lido

Tinside Lido Plymouth

Tinside Lido is an open air swimming lido, so the temperature is naturally lower – especially as its England! The lido was built in 1935 and offers a wonderful example of British seaside. It also has an art deco style, Grade II listed and one of the top 10 best outdoor pools in England.

The water features of the pool have been restored with some modern modifications and also has a fun mushroom effect as well as a water jet to play around in. It makes a great day out with the kids, especially if they like the water and the outdoors!

There is also food onsite as well as a qualified lifeguard on duty at all times. Always remember sunscreen and hats during the summer season.

5. Plym Valley Railway

At Plym Valley Railway there is a 1.5 mile section of the ex Great Western branch line that has been rebuilt from Marsh Mills to Plym Bridge. It is a great heritage railway to visit, which preserves steam and diesel locomotives, carriages, wagons and other historical railway artifacts.

There are lots of engines and carriages as well as train rides and a viewing area to watch the trains go past. If you fancy a walk, you can stop off at Plym Bridge where you can explore Plym Bridge woods. If you fancy a cycle, there is a picturesque cycle path along the railway.
