1. Riverside Museum

Riverside is famous for being home to some of the world’s finest cars, ship models, trains and other transport. In Glasgow, there are many displays as well as the popular historic Glasgow Street that brings the objects and stories to life.

Riverside Museum has thousands of objects that explain Glasgow’s rich past from its days as a maritime powerhouse to a sight into daily Glasgow life in the 20th Century. The objects on display show everything including transport, skateboards, paintings and more. It has so many objects for all ages, including a Stormtrooper from Star Wars!

When visiting the Museum, there are many interactive and themed displays, as well as events to keep you and the family entertained. There are also various educational guided tours of the Riverside Museum. Before visiting the museum, see which seasonal events are taking place at Riverside.

2. The Glasgow School of Art

Enter Glasgow’s creativity at The Glasgow School of Art, which is internationally known as one of the most leading university level institutions for the visual creative disciplines in Europe. The Glasgow School of Art was founded in 1845 as one of the first Schools of Design in the Government and was built in 1897 – 1909. It is a centre of creativity and promoting good design for the manufacturing industries.

The art school is in one of Glasgow’s most famous buildings, being a popular location for locals and tourists worldwide. The School of Art offers a studio-based approach to teaching and research, bringing disciplines together and to find new solutions.

As the building was damaged severely by a fire in May 2014, the building is now undergoing careful and thorough restoration.

The GSA Visitor Centre & Shop are open 10am - 4.30pm, 7 days, all year round including public bank holidays (excluding festive closure 23rd December 2017 - 3rd January 2018 inclusive. Last tours depart on 20th December 2017 before the festive break, recommencing on 4th January 2018).

The church has a lot of history and has the finest post-war collections of stained glass windows in Britain. It also has outstanding architecture, which makes it a popular tourist spot. 

Glasgow Cathedral has a regular congregation and is known that no visitor should leave the city without seeing making a visit.

Historic Environment Scotland looks after the church, on behalf of Scottish Ministers. Also, you can tell that the church has been well looked after and preserved and demonstrates that it is a fantastic example of a large church to have survived the medieval period in Scotland.
