Follow Roman soldier’s footsteps, at the Walls of Chester and enjoy beautiful views of the city. See the Water Tower, which is no longer next to the river, the remains of the Roman Amphitheatre, the popular clock on Eastgate and much more.

3. Chester Rows
Chester Rows is a great place for shopaholics and has been popular with visitors since it developed as a fascinating market town in the middle ages. After a few years, unique Rows galleries were created, giving visitors stores at street level with steps to another tier of shops above. It is also the oldest shopping façade in England!The Rows are unique with their double shops and it’s not the usual retail shops in Chester, as they have many independent retailers you won’t find anywhere else.Popular shoemakers and Iron Mongers use to trade in these historic streets when fruit and herb markets and cheese fairs were popular in the city.

4. Tatton Park
Tatton Park is situated in 1,000 acres of the most beautiful deer park and the former Egerton family home is open to explore at your own pace. Why not take a stroll through the park and gardens and see the rare breeds of animals at the working farm.
There is also a Stableyard, where you can relax, have food and refreshments and shop in various independent shops. It’s a great place to visit on the weekend, so why not go with friends or explore the family home and gardens?The estate was the property of the Egerton family for nearly 400 years until it was taken over by the National Trust in 1958. The house and gardens are now financed and maintained by Cheshire East Council.

5. Eastgate Clock
Eastgate Clock is a famous clock built just above the Eastgate of the ancient walls of Chester. It is popular with locals and tourists and is a landmark of Chester.
The original gate was Roman and the present gate was built in Georgian times, to allow coaches through, however, the clock wasn’t added to the gate until the Victorian era to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.
Eastgate Clock is the most photographed timepiece in England, after Big Ben and is also a Grade I Listed building. If you plan on visiting Chester, the Eastgate Clock is a must see, especially if you plan to visit the Walls of Chester.
